This collection is the first adventure for Gaither Drake Band which consists of myself, Brady Kerr, Keith Coleman and my son, Robert Joseph. We've spent the past several months locked up inside the casita spilling blood, sweat and tears onto the studio floor. There's something here for everyone; whether you're falling in love, falling out of love, dreading the holidays, or just wanting to rock out! Hope you enjoy this new endeavor as we bring you the debut album from GDB!

Horse Town USA

This collection of songs was inspired by spending the past three years working in a small, southern California town called Norco, which bills itself as “Horse Town USA”. Shortly after arriving at my new job as Vice President for Norco College, a brand new community college, I wrote Mustang Pride, which has become the school song. Soon afterward I decided to write and record a collection of western- themed songs and Horse Town USAwas born. I hope that folks from Norco or anyplace else enjoy it. Happy listening!

This is the debut album from my son, Robert Joseph. It features several songs written by me based on his life ( Charlie and Songs for Caley in particular), as well as some pretty cool covers (check out Have You Ever Seen the Rain?). He’s a major talent, and pretty good looking, too. We had a blast making this record together.

When I heard the sound of my new guitar (a custom reissue of the 1957 Gibson Les Paul Jr.) I knew I had to make a "surf record" in the classic 60s - So Cal style.

I hope you enjoy it.

This album contains several newly written songs, along with covers of songs by Tommy James and the Shondells and Mark-Almond. I am especially excited about Three Times and Walking Beneath a Rainbow, which I consider to be among my strongest compositions. Wonder Valley and Beatnik Café are story-telling songs about two places in the high desert I’ve recently “discovered”.

A tribute to Barry Bonds for setting a new home run record. With all the controversy surrounding Barry, the magnitude of his accomplishment seems to have gone unnoticed. This song is a thank you note to Barry from a huge San Francisco Giants fan.

A collection of newly written songs, two of which were inspired by the recent Southern California fires and their aftermath. The album features a guest appearance by vocalist Dina Humble, who sings backup on four songs and provides the lead vocal on a cover of the Barry Mann/Larry Kolber 60s classic I Love How You Love Me. Four of the songs were co-written with Albuquerque- based poet John Kay, a longtime friend. Barstoned Again has already become a crowd favorite at live performances.

This album is a response to certain listeners who have suggested that my recent songwriting efforts haven't dug deeply enough emotionally. It includes several newly written songs, along with a few from my "deep catalogue" that I prevoiously have regarded as too personal in nature to release publicly.

A collaborative effort with his son, vocalist Robert Joseph, this album features 10 of their favorite “classic rock” tunes, several of which are of the lesser known variety. Widely ranging in styles, encompassing acid rock (Sunshine of Your Love) southern rock (The Ballad of Curtis Loewe), jazz (The City), blues (Gimme One Reason) and gospel (Oh Happy Day), the album gave Drake the opportunity to experiment with different production techniques, playing and singing styles.

This was Gaither Drake’s first attempt to self-produce an album with his newly purchased home recording equipment. While understandably varying in sound and production quality, the album contains a number of highly listenable and enjoyable songs, including My Best Friends (a tribute to his Barstow buddies who “play for the other team”) and the title track, co-written and performed with his son, Robert Joseph. The cover artwork and overall tone of the record are stylistically indicative of the changes in his work that have accompanied his move to southern California.

Gaither’s second solo effort, released in 2002, consists mostly of songs written during a burst of inspiration that occurred during the recording of the album. It has a lighter, less melancholy feel than Mariposa, reflecting his state of happiness and contentment at the time. Highlights include You and Me in Ukiah (an ode to his then-adopted hometown), Movin’ Again (reflective of the fact that Drake moved 43 times between 1979 and 1999) and the instrumental piece, Revelation Number 9, which features Grammy-nominee Alex deGrassi on 18-string guitar.

Gaither Drake’s debut solo album, released in 2000, features songs written over a 20-year period, spanning from his college years (Maria) to his time in Ukiah, California (Falling Star) with numerous stops in-between. The album prominently features multi-instrumentalist Gene Parsons, an ex-member of The Byrds, whose presence contributes to its country-rock feel. A host of talented Mendocino County musicians and singers contributed to this album, which was produced in the digital recording studio at Mendocino College.

John — John

The tragic and untimley loss of John Kennedy Jr. touched members of his generation in a deeply personal way.

I hope that this song provides the listener with a small measure of solace, as it has done for me.
